The earth is running out of fresh water at an alarming rate.
Our mission at Big Dog Turf is to drastically reduce water waste.
The average Colorado household uses more than half a million gallons of water an acre per year. In fact, the Denver Water Department efficiency target is 12 gallons of water per square foot of landscape per year. That’s 523,000 gallons of water an acre.
We must change our water consumption habits. We have better things to do than mow our grass.
We definitely don’t want to be spraying fertilizers and weed killers on our property..
There’s no time to wait… Our turf looks amazing year around with zero water usage, zero maintenance, and zero fertilizers / pesticides. That’s a massive environmental footprint reduction that benefits all. There are tax benefits and rebates available for xeriscaping in many counties and townships already, and more programs in the works statewide. Savings from the installation of our artificial turf vs. regular sod will pay off the difference in material/installation costs in less than 5 seasons.
Our turf is pet friendly, Earth friendly, & human friendly.
The dogs are barking…

Water Conservation in Colorado
Switching to turf offers significant environmental benefits, particularly in water-stressed regions like Colorado. According to environmental statistics, traditional lawns can account for a substantial portion of residential water usage, especially during the hot and dry summer months. By transitioning to synthetic turf, homeowners can dramatically reduce their water consumption, helping to alleviate strain on local water resources and contribute to water conservation efforts across the state.

Significant Reduction in Water Usage
Environmental studies show that synthetic turf requires significantly less water than natural grass to maintain its appearance. In Colorado's arid climate, where water scarcity is a pressing concern, this reduction in water usage can have a meaningful impact on both individual households and the broader community. By making the switch to turf, homeowners can play a proactive role in water conservation, helping to preserve precious freshwater resources for future generations.

Mitigating Environmental Impact
Beyond water conservation, transitioning to turf offers additional environmental benefits. Unlike natural grass, synthetic turf eliminates the need for harmful pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers, which can contaminate soil and waterways. Additionally, synthetic turf requires minimal maintenance, reducing the use of gasoline-powered lawn equipment that contributes to air and noise pollution. By embracing turf, homeowners in Colorado can minimize their environmental footprint and contribute to a healthier, more sustainable future for the planet.

Long-Term Sustainability
Switching to turf isn't just an environmentally responsible choice; it's also a financially savvy one. While the initial investment may be higher than installing a traditional lawn, the long-term savings on water bills, maintenance costs, and lawn care products can add up significantly over time. Furthermore, synthetic turf has a lifespan of 15-20 years or more, providing lasting beauty and performance without the need for frequent replacement. By embracing turf, homeowners in Colorado can enjoy a beautiful, sustainable lawn that benefits both their wallets and the environment.
